Team‑building activities have gained a central place in corporate culture, now serving as moments of social interaction that go far beyond traditional team lunches or dinners. But an essential question arises: what happens if an employee suffers an accident during one of these initiatives?

In an opinion article for RH Magazine, Camila Marques de Queiroz, Associate in the Labour practice at CCA Law Firm, reflects on this issue and explains that, although these activities often take place outside the company’s physical premises, they should be understood as a natural extension of working time and workplace.

Team‑building activities are planned and promoted by the employer, clearly falling within the framework of the employment relationship. (…) By recognising that workers also deserve the protection afforded to workplace accidents in these contexts, not only is compliance with the law reinforced, but also the mutual trust that should underpin any employment relationship.”
