The increasing international mobility of workers poses significant legal challenges in terms of labour law and social security coverage, requiring companies to ensure strict compliance with the applicable legal obligations.
In an article for RH Magazine, Carolina Hecker, Principal Associate in the Labour practice at CCA Law Firm, analyses the role of the Portable Document A1 as an essential instrument to ensure that workers remain covered by the Social Security system of their country of origin during temporary assignments abroad.
“The Portable Document A1 is an official document, issued by the Social Security Authorities of the worker’s Member State of origin, which certifies that the worker remains covered by that country’s social protection system, even when temporarily carrying out work in another Member State,” clarifies the lawyer.
The analysis highlights that the correct use of the A1 form helps avoid double contributions and strengthens legal certainty for both companies and workers in situations of international mobility.
