Francisco Pimenta comments on weaknesses in the government's anti-corruption plan

The government's new plan to prevent corruption and related offenses (PPR), which was released several months late, has been criticized for not providing for the disclosure of conflicts of interest or requests for recusal by political office holders— which was recommended by the National Anti-Corruption Mechanism (MENAC).

Speaking to ECO, Francisco Pimenta, Senior Associate in the Compliance department at CCA Law Firm, highlights the lack of concrete and structured measures to ensure transparency in government action.

The plan does not provide, in any way, for the disclosure of the interests of political office holders or the disclosure of requests for recusal, as recommended by MENAC," he adds.
