Henrique Salinas comments on the release of Lula da Silva

Henrique Salinas, Partner in charge of the Economic, Criminal & Compliance area of CCA Law Firm, was invited to the ‘Jornal da Meia-Noite’ of SIC Notícias, where he commented on the decision to release Lula da Silva after more than 500 days in prison in Curitiba. The Federal Judge's decision was given only 24 hours after the Supreme Court ruled that no suspect can be effectively arrested until his case becomes final, that is, there is no possibility of appeal and this is final.

"After some hesitation on the part of the Supreme Court, it was already expected that this would be the decision that would prevail, that is to say, the prohibition of the execution of the sentence before the procedure comes to an form the technical point of view, before the final judgment of the sentence", says Henrique Salinas.

The CCA partner also emphasizes that "the release of the former president seems to be a mere consequence of the decision of the Federal Supreme Court, since he was one of the approximately 5,000 convicts who had not yet seen the case come to an end, and who was in jail even though there was no final sentence".
