Tânia de Almeida Ferreira talks about the French Internet Business Tax

News

Tânia de Almeida Ferreira, CCA's Law Firm Partner and Coordinator of the Tax Department, in statements to Expresso, comments on the imposition by France of a tax that is to be paid by global technology companies having annual revenues in excess of 750 million Euros, namely companies such as Google, Apple, Facebook, Alphabet or eBay.

Nevertheless, for many people, the French solution to tax these enterprises is not the best  "I understand it [the tax] for two different reasons: the openness given to it in a European context and the inherent characteristics of the French tax system. France has however adopted an unquestionably easier solution, as a tax on revenues, generally associated to a low tax on a high basis, tends to be more easily implemented by both tax authorities and taxpayers, allowing for a more agile management and an easier inspection and control", underlines Tânia de Almeida Ferreira.
