A founding partner of CCA, Carlos Cruz played a decisive role in the firm’s establishment and has been a key driver of its innovative and multidisciplinary positioning. With a career spanning more than three decades, he has developed a robust practice in Civil and Commercial Litigation, Corporate Law, Arbitration and Mediation, Competition, Technology and Media, and Corporate Governance. His work places particular emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, corporate matters, and contractual and succession issues within a business context, advising clients in matters of high complexity and sensitivity.
Carlos Cruz is widely recognised for his ability to connect multiple areas of law and to align legal analysis with the operational and strategic realities of business. He regularly advises multinational groups, international companies, and family-owned businesses, tailoring his approach to the specific characteristics of each sector and to different stages of the corporate life cycle.
A pioneer in legal advisory services to companies in the media, technology, communications, and advertising sectors, he also has extensive experience in intellectual and industrial property, having closely followed the development of these areas from their early stages. He is further distinguished for his work in arbitration, both at national and international levels.

A partner at CCA since 1997, he is one of the firm’s founding partners. He began his legal practice in 1974, working independently alongside his father, Fernando Cruz, thereby laying the foundations for what would later become CCA Law Firm.
Early in his career, he held senior roles within public administration, serving in ministerial offices and collaborating across several areas of economic governance. In parallel, he has maintained a long-standing commitment to legal education, teaching law and contributing to the training of successive generations of legal professionals.
He currently serves as Chair of the General Assembly of the Litigation Lawyers’ Circle and is a member of the First List of Arbitrators of the Concórdia Arbitration Centre. Throughout his career, he has also served on the governing bodies of several companies, combining legal practice with a strong and informed understanding of corporate and institutional governance.
