João focuses almost exclusively on litigation and legal advisory work within the field of Insurance Law, with regular involvement in dispute resolution, both in judicial and out-of-court settings.
Over the past decade, he has worked across a wide range of insurance lines, products, and market players, building a deep and comprehensive technical understanding of the sector.
João has developed a strong practice in managing financial lines claims, advising on professional liability insurance, directors and officers liability (D&O), and cyber risk insurance. His work includes close collaboration with insurers and insured parties in defining coverage strategies, risk analysis, and the coordination of liability issues.
More recently, he has expanded his focus to the regulatory aspects of the insurance sector, particularly in areas such as market conduct, regulatory reporting, and governance. João is recognised for his attentiveness to regulatory developments and the evolving compliance challenges facing the industry.

João began his legal career at a solo law practice and, in 2012, joined a leading Portuguese law firm with a strong focus on the insurance sector, where he later became an Associate in the Insurance Practice After completing his traineeship, João became an Associate and joined the firm’s Insurance Practice, where he built his career over the following years
