The lack of agreement at the latest Social Concertation meeting has once again highlighted the difficulties surrounding the labour reform proposal presented by the Government.
In an article for RH Magazine, Carlos de Oliveira Sarmento, Managing Associate in the Labour practice at CCA Law Firm, analyses the main points of disagreement between the Government and the social partners, focusing on issues such as reinstatement following unlawful dismissal, fixed-term employment contracts, individual working time accounts and the use of outsourcing.
The lawyer notes that, despite several months of negotiations, significant differences remain on matters considered structural by the trade unions, leaving the future of the labour reform and the possibility of substantial amendments at parliamentary level still open.
