As part of the Labour Day commemorations, Carlos de Oliveira Sarmento, Managing Associate in the Labour practice area at CCA Law Firm, appeared on CNN Portugal, where he commented on the new labour reform package currently under discussion.
During his intervention, he highlighted the evolution of the proposals, noting the legislator’s effort to strike a balance between the protection of employees’ rights and the need for greater flexibility for businesses.
In this context, he stated that “we do indeed have a somewhat rigid labour framework. It is important to dispel the idea that flexibility equates to precariousness.”
His analysis focused on the overall framework of the proposed measures, emphasising the importance of solutions that reconcile business competitiveness with the safeguarding of labour rights.
