Henrique Salinas analyzes anti-corruption measures in Portugal

News

Henrique Salinas, Partner and Head of the Criminal Law & Compliance area of CCA Law Firm, was invited to "Edição da Noite" program, hosted by SIC Notícias, where he commented on the package of measures that the Government is preparing under the national anti-corruption strategy. The separation of mega-processes, specialized corruption judgments, sentencing agreements, and investigating magistrates to accompany trials, are some of the measures on which the Ministry of Justice is betting on.

"The most important thing is to increase preventive measures, for example, on public procurement. If public procurement - state contracts - are transparent, it is obvious that the risk of corruption is immediately prevented from its very beginning. These preventive measures can actually bring what we really want, which is to prevent the practice of corruption. Any other repressive measures are already being used when the harm is done, and the goal is to prevent corruption and not to punish those who unfortunately do not comply with the rules of the game", says the Partner.
