CCA contributes to The Legal 500’s analysis of Artificial Intelligence in Portugal

News

CCA Law Firm has contributed to The Legal 500’s latest publications on Artificial Intelligence in Portugal through the Artificial Intelligence – Country Comparative Guide and Legal Landscapes: Portugal – Artificial Intelligence.

Martim Bouza Serrano, Filipe Mayer, Ana Beatriz Bravo and Carolina Marcelino Tomás, analyse the regulation and use of Artificial Intelligence in Portugal, combining a legal perspective with a practical approach to the challenges organisations face when adopting these technologies.

Their contributions cover topics such as the implementation of the AI Act in Portugal, transparency and human oversight, liability, intellectual property, data protection, cybersecurity and the use of AI in the workplace, as well as how these rules interact with other requirements already applicable to businesses.

The analysis also addresses Portugal’s evolving national AI strategy, the main risks and opportunities for organisations, and the growing importance of integrating AI governance into business operations, from identifying and classifying AI use cases to engaging with technology providers and implementing internal controls.

As the adoption of these technologies continues to accelerate, the contributions highlight the importance of approaching AI not only as a technology project, but also as a matter of governance, risk management and preparation for regulatory requirements that are already applicable or will progressively come into force.
