The new transparency obligations under the AI Act require increased attention from organisations using AI systems to interact with users, generate content or in other contexts covered by the new rules.
In an article published in SAPO, Carolina Malheiro Dias, Associate in the TMT practice at CCA Law Firm, explains the practical impact of these obligations and the key aspects organisations should consider to ensure compliance.
In this context, she notes that “Transparency is no longer simply a best practice; it is now a legal obligation and a key factor in building trust.”
The article addresses, among other topics, the disclosure of interactions with AI systems, the labelling of AI-generated or manipulated content, the use of deepfakes and the obligations applicable to certain content on matters of public interest. It also highlights the importance of reviewing internal procedures and preparing teams to ensure that AI is used in line with the new transparency requirements.
