After lengthy negotiations on biometric surveillance and systems such as ChatGPT, European lawmakers reached a provisional agreement on 8 December on the rules that will govern the use of Artificial Intelligence technologies. Speaking to IT Insight, Eduardo Magrani, Senior Consultant in CCA's TMT Area, analyses the European Regulation on AI and reflects on the possible hindrance to innovation.
"Risk mitigation does not eliminate innovation; on the contrary, it can enable innovation, but in a responsible manner. It can allow competition in the market to take place on the basis of higher quality production and development," emphasizes Eduardo Magrani.
